Format: Boat tournament, exclusively catch and release for marlin/sailfish.
Sanctioning: SaltPatrol.com & Van Wormer Resorts
Target species: Marlin (all species) and Pacific Sailfish, Tuna, Dorado
Scoring: Points will be awarded for each successful release.
Blue Marlin = 500 points
Black Marlin = 500 points
Stripe Marlin = 300 points
Pacific Sailfish =200 points
Tuna/Dorado Catch = 25 points up to 8 fish per boat counted. Total boat points not to exceed 200 total per day.
Monitoring: All anglers will be provided certified score cards each day that will need to be filled out and verified by the Captain of the boat.
In-water releases preferred. An IFGA “leader touch” by deckhand verifies the catch.
All boats must return to the dock with the scorecard by 4:30 pm. Any score card received after 4:30 PM receives a zero for the day. All anglers must fish out of a resort boat and stay at the resort to fish this tournament.
Entry Fee: $50.00 cash per angler for the three day series. The entry fee includes all tournament events; and T-shirt. In addition, the entry fee qualifies anglers to win trophies and prizes as defined below. A separate cash prize will be awarded to Capt and crew of winning boats to promote maximum fishing effort from all the crews.
Prizes: All registered anglers are eligible for trophies and tackle prizes to be awarded to the top teams per tournament based on overall billfish release points and tuna catch.
Additional prizes: There will be a grand prize for the largest tuna, and dorado by weight entered over the 3 day tournament. In case of a tie, the first fish weighed will take the prize.
As the tournament promoter, Van Wormers Resorts will put up an additional guaranteed GRAND PRIZE of free return trip to the resort to be awarded to the team with the highest combined billfish release and tuna points for the entire 3 day tournament.
Disputes: Any and all disputes will be settled by the tournament committee; John Keizer, Eddie Dalmau and Paul Castillo. All rulings are final and binding.

Team Shirts: Up to 4 anglers on a boat, each boat becomes a team; anglers are highly encouraged to come up with a team name and create shirts for their teams. (There is a prize)
Awards: Once again it will be cash for winners and prize drawings for registered participants. The entry fee was increased $50.00 so we can attain some nice prizes and pay prize money to the boat crews.
Fly-fishing Division: There is a division and special prize for top team fishing fly tackle on a panga. Same rules apply as with standard fishing tackle.
Baja Fly-fishing Company will be hosting a free fly-fishing clinic.
