Pre-Season Preparation

Now is a great time to go through your camping equipment and make sure everything is working prior to you hitting the woods for hunting season. Lisa and my base camp is a 26ft motor-home that I tow my Suzuki Sidekick ”The Huntin’ Zuk” behind . To start off the season I get everything from brakes, to fluids, to tires, to wiper blades, to my transmission (this year) checked by my local shop B&B automotive who has done an outstanding job keeping me on the road. Once I know the coach is in good shape I check for propane leaks and any other problem I may encounter. I usually start this process at the beginning of May so I can have the whole summer to work out any other problems I may find during camping trips throughout the rest of the summer. The worst thing for a motor-home, travel trailer, camper, and even a boat is to just let it sit, problems just seem to compile when that happens.

This is also a great time to try out different recipes that you might want to try to impress your hunting partners with at the dinner table in hunting camp. One of my hunting partners “Joe” and I recently took up Dutch oven cooking. We have been going through cook books and trying out different recipes to try to out do each other in camp, this competition helps keep the cooking part of hunting less of a chore and more of a competition.

If you have any good camp recipes to share please send them in to the site for posting
