Taken during the early archery hunt outside of Townsend, Mt by Nick Bell from Eastern Washington.
On the hunt we bounced back and forth from spot and stalk to sitting on water. After sitting for what seemed like forever my buddy and I decided to walk to the top of the next hill and see if any goats were coming
into water. As we crested the hill I saw the top of an antelopes back about 150 or200 yards out. I grabbed my buddy to stop him and watched for a min. The buck looked like it was working its way right toward
us. We backed off the ridge and moved down 50 yards or so to make sure the wind
was right. We got up behind the last tree available when 10 seconds
later a buck appeared. It was coming up my side of the tree so I tried to move back so he would be able to shoot. I think he caught some movement and stoped. About this time 4 more bucks walk up with
him. My buddy still can't see any of them from where he is. As they all started to
walk again I told him to draw and shoot the second buck. When he had drawn I ranged him at 34 yards. Doesn't get much better. He let's the arrow fly perfectly and the buck goes 50 yards or so and piled up. We field dressed him quickly loaded on my pack and off we went for the coolers.
Hopefully I will have another story for you next week about the whitetail I am going to be chasing. He is the best whitey I have ever seen in Washington.
