Muzzleloader shooters over 50 unite

I think this blog entry will be about a subject every Muzzleloader hunter over 50 yrs can relate to. In Washington State, you can not use optics on a muzzleloader except on special hunts.

Most hunters over 50 yrs begin to lose their eye sight. Mine has been blurry for several years and a scope cures the problem. It seems to me that a hunter with clear vision is a much better shot and can make a more ethical shot than one with blurred vision trying to focus on open iron sights. The law makers try to make one rule fits all and do not think to customizing rules for what is best for the animals and the sport. If optics are “OK” for special hunts why not during the regular season for mature hunters.

I contend that it is appropriate to amend the rules to allow hunters over 50 yrs to use optics with muzzleloaders. Seems like a “no brainer” to me.
