We all want the first arrow out our bow to fly perfectly but, the only way we can be sure is to shoot through paper to see if the hole is perfect or is it a tear. Of course if the hole is perfect read no farther. But if you have a tear by knowing how to read the tear you can fix your problem.
Make a frame for the paper, cut the center out of a piece of cardboard or build a frame you can use year after year. Shoot from 4-5 feet away and use your best release form.
If the tear is:
Tail high: Move the knock point down or check fletching clearance.
Tail low: Move the knock point up.
Tail left: Check fletching clearance, rotate your knock or change your grip, use a lighter point, use a stiffer shaft or move your arrow rest side to side.
Tail right: Change your grip, use a heavier point, use a lighter shaft or move your arrow rest side to side.
Of course you can experiment with grip for all of these problems.
This is an important item to check before you go into the field to hunt.
See you in the field
