It was very hot and dry and we had not seen or heard anything for the first 4 days. We finally found a good concentration of elk on the fifth morning and I connected with this guy that afternoon at last light. I shot him off the ground while my buddy called him in. We were actually working a different bull when this guy snuck up on me at 5 yards and had no idea I was there. I was just lucky to have seen him before he saw me. By the time he finally looked in my direction I was already at full draw and settling my pin when I let it fly at 35 yards with my PSE Axe 6. I got a complete pass through and he went less than 60 yards before piling up. I think the arrow finally came to rest in another unit because I never did find it. :-)
Very Exciting!
